Every year one of the most important tennis events takes place in Wimbledon, London. So if you’re planning a city break to London in late June or early July, why not take a day trip to Wimbledon and watch Roger Federer and Serena Williams defend their Grand Slam title from last year! Also, if you’re lucky you might get a glimpse of some of the greatest tennis players in history.
The Wimbledon Championship is held between 21st of June and 4th of July. If you want to buy tickets to the Wimbledon, it is possible to get ground tickets for the whole day, which you can buy every day during the tournament. In addition you can purchase Centre Court tickets (excluding the last four days). However, this would most likely involve queuing overnight.
You can find more information about how to buy tickets for Wimbledon here.
Wimbledon is only a half hour drive from London and is a great alternative if you want to combine your city holiday with the countryside. Besides being a spectator at the tennis tournament, I would make sure to visit Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum.
