British culture online

In a time where subjects such as file sharing, copyright laws and illegal downloading are being discussed in every other street corner, it is quite refreshing to see British artists and musicians getting their works out in new fun ways. We previously wrote about the Beatles Official Widget, that allows you to put a customizable application with your favourite Beatles songs on your blog, Facebook or MySpace page.

Now, the lads in Monty Python have entered the stage. Instead of trying to get illegal recordings of their work removed from the Internet, they have decided to create their own section on YouTube. With high quality videos with links to where to read more and buy their TV shows and movies, I think this is a great example of how to use and take advantage of new technology. Instead of working against it.

Good on you lads – I’ll buy your DVD box next time I am at Heathrow!
