Team of the week: Wigan

Wigan Athletic, also known as the Laticks,  is a football team from the city of Wigan in Greater Manchester and they play their home matches on DW Stadium. This season, who do you think will contribute up front after loosing skilled winger Antonio Valencia, Egyptian duo Zaki and Mido and powerhouse Emilie Heskey?

Hopefully the Ecuadorian striker Hugo Rodallega will fill part of this gap, with two goals so far in the Wigan campaign he is off to a good start. Under new manager Roberto Martinez the club is mostly focused on their defensive strengths, with tough and experienced defenders such as Paul Scharner, Mario Melchiot, Emerson Boyce and Titus Bramble. Opposing strikers certainly have a tough day on the job to look forward to!

Hardworking Brits such as Jason Koumas, Michael Brown and «Crazy» Lee Cattermole (2 red and 10 yellow cards last season) represent their style of playing.

Their most exciting player is Honduran Maynor Figueroa. His tremendous speed and offensive play from left back is holding the Swede Erik Edman out of the team. His contributions on the left side could prove vital, but last season he had Valencia in front of him, now collaboration with new left wing Charles N´Zogbia is key to team success.

This week the northerners are playing Drogba & co, they certainly have a big task, so who do you think will win?
