Team of the week: Blackburn

blackburn

Blackburn Rovers is a football club from the town of Blackburn in Lancashire in the north of England, and their home ground is Ewood Park.

When the Rovers won the premiership back in the 94/95 season, they were the biggest spenders of the league, having bought big names such as Alan Shearer, Graeme Le Saux, Henning Berg and Chris Sutton. With Legendary (King) Kenny Dalglish as manager and Jack Walker as chairman and investor Blackburn took the trophy back to Lancashire.

Today the club is struggling financially and struggling to keep their star players in the club. You could only imagine what the team could have achieved if they were to keep talented players such as Craig Bellamy, David Bentley, Damien Duff and Roque Santa Cruz.

Blackburn - Gamst PedersenOne player who has chosen to stay in the club is the Norwegian Morten Gamst Pedersen. This Vadsø native (from way up north in Norway), is an important player and his sensitive left foot could prove vital in keeping the club away from the relegation zone.

Blackburn - JacobsenDanish international Lars Jacobsen is important in his full back role, capable of playing both left and right side in defence.

New players this season are Jacobsen, van Heerden, N’Zonzi, Givet (back from Marseille) and Di Santo (back from Chelsea).

This weekend the club is playing a hungry Everton team at Goodison park and no one could afford to lose this game if they want to keep away from the bottom three. Which team are you cheering for?
