The ”one millionth” English word isn’t “defriend”…

Social medias and the web has an enormous impact on the English language, and many others for that matter. Words such as “defriend” and “defellow” has a great impact for those of us using Twitter or Facebook. And when a language monitoring group recently set out to crown the “one millionth” English word they came up with something looking more like a phrase. The millionth world in the English language is “Web 2.0”.

If you’re like me and sometimes actually goes IRL you might want to experience an old classic melting pot of words, called Speakers Corner. The original and most noted Speakers Corner is in the north-east corner of Hyde Park in London. This is a great place to spend an afternoon listening to contemporary English while sipping a cup of hot coffee.
